How to Have a Zen Day in 6 Easy Steps

How to Have a Zen Day in 6 Easy Steps

It is hard to find time for everything that we have to do in one day, but to add time for yourself is even harder. Just trying to find an hour in your day for yourself doesn't mean that you will have a crazy schedule.

1

Create a Zen spot. Find a spot in your house that you can make it a special getaway spot. It can be as simple as a comfortable chair with your favorite afghan and a small table loaded with scented candles. It would be great if you had a great view to focus on, like a natural setting or a great picture. Just focus on the great view and inhale the aroma. Do not think about any problems or work, just relax.

2

Go to the library and pick out a great inspirational or self-help book on audio. You can put the headsets on and listen while you are walking on the treadmill or on a great nature walk. You will be self-healing your mind and body while finding the time for you.

3

Make a not-to-do list. This is used as a therapy method for those people that are cheating themselves out of the special hour. On this not-to-do list write "I will not do anything for an hour but think of myself." Reinforcing your mind with a positive repetitive habit is a way to reprogram a stubborn mind.

4

Add a bit of chocolate to your Zen hour. Chocolate has a chemical in it to calm most people.

5

Treat yourself to a massage. You don't have to go to a spa, just do a simple massage with hot stones on your temple area, neck area and on your feet. Relaxation will be achieved in minutes and tension will be gone. Your body will respond to touch better when heat is applied, so grabs some stones and run them under some hot water. If you don't have any stones, use a warm wash cloth with scented oil on it.

6

Shopping therapy. Your mind will give you that feel-good mood when you give yourself a gift. It doesn't have to be expensive. A new pair of earrings, a new scented candle for your Zen spot, or a new book that you have been wanting to read.
